Job description
We are expanding our team, and searching for an individual who enjoys playing with children in a 1:1 setting, is passionate about individuals with autism and social challenges, and is dedicated to supporting the mission of Empowering Kids! This person will provide individualized care, developmental, behavioral and/or relational intervention to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related conditions using the DIR Floortime method.
Note: Coursework must be documented and in one or more of the following areas: ASD or related condition diagnostics, ASD or related condition treatment strategies or child development.
In addition, a person also must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Have a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health, child development or related fields (e.g., mental health, special education, social work, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy)
- Be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. (BACB)
- At least 2,000 hours of clinical experience and/or training in the examination and/or treatment of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a related condition.
Note: The provider can include hours worked as a mental health behavioral aide, mental health practitioner, personal care assistance (PCA) worker, EIDBI level II or level III provider or another role in a clinic or education setting as required hours of experience.
Job Duties
- This position requires someone who likes to play, is flexible, has the ability to plan a variety of activities, and is willing to work with energetic children of all ages. Playing on the floor, art projects, playing games, bouncing on a trampoline, gardening, swimming, riding small scooters, climbing slides, and jumping in the foam pit are common activities that might take place in a 4-6 hour therapy session.
- Provide evidence-based interventions (DIR-Floortime Therapy) to individuals with autism and ADHD in individual and group format as needed.
- Assists with the creation and implementation of the individualized treatment plans as needed.
- Comply with related federal and state regulations, as well as departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide client centered care in a variety of settings such as; clinic office, home, schools, and community settings to develop client centered service plans as needed.
- Collaborate/consult with other service providers connected with EIDBI clients.
- Work on an interdisciplinary team of other specialists to provide comprehensive care.
- Maintain up-to-date client case files through documentation and notes
- Document and submit all continuing education units.
- Participate in quality assurance activities such as continual supervision
